The Pebble is a sculptural street lighting device, that also operates as seating-leaning furniture, with irregular pebble-like geometry. It recycles the sludge waste generated during the cutting of andesite stones. Andesite is the most widely used natural stone in the construction industry, which yields tons of waste that is significantly rarely reused. The Pebble uses the tactile qualities of the material and blends into the urban environment tectonics. It emits light from a slit.

Gizem Deniz Guneri is an architect and urban designer with specific interest in urbanism and urbanity. Her research and practice focuses on means and methods of livening urban space, and enhancing health and wellbeing of urbanites. She has worked as a part of Foster and Partners, on urban scale projects, and conducted academic studies at various institutions such as Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation and Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
